„Cotton made in Africa“ Weaving Day – Worldwide Employee Campaign 2007
The main focus of the employee campaign was to make the four corporate values of the Otto Group tangible for all employees. Furthermore, the employees were invited to discover which companies belong to the group worldwide as well as to experience at first hand what the Otto Group can move and achieve.
For this reason, the art project “Flying Carpet” by Ernst Handl was connected with the initiative “Cotton made in Africa“ in the worldwide employee campaign. Out of raw cotton, textile fabrics, golden threads and other materials “Flying Carpets” were woven in all participating companies of the Otto Group worldwide. This special day was called „Cotton made in Africa” Weaving Day. All employees could contribute with a “designed” piece of cotton fabric – a so called fabric tattoo.
This impressive employee action resulted in 57 single carpets. The highlight was the finishing of the four “big carpets” that represent the four corporate values. These carpets will be exhibited in the Otto Group headquarters in Hamburg.
Furthermore, for each sent in fabric tattoo the Otto Group donated 3 euros to the “Cotton made in Africa” project.
