In 2000 Kelkoo was founded in France by Pierre Chappaz and Dominique Vidal. Since Q4 2002 Kelkoo has been profitable.
In January 2003 Kelkoo also started in Germany and now operates in 10 European countries: Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. From 2004 to 2008 Kelkoo was a subsidiary of the Yahoo! Inc. Since November 2008 Kelkoo belongs to the investors group Jamplant. Today Kelkoo is Europe's third largest e-commerce website after Amazon and Ebay and the largest e-commerce advertising platform.
The database of the shopping-community is divided in 400 categories, from Cars & Accessories, Books, Music to Fashion and Flights & Travel.
The aim is to position Kelkoo as ‚the’ shopping search engine on the internet, that does not only offer attractive prices and an extremely wide range of products, but also many service features that facilitates online shopping. Kelkoo is credible, diverse and accurate because of the high quality and quantity of the partner shops. The website holds a special competence in the category “Flights & Travel”: With its “Live Search" Kelkoo is the first shopping search engine, which shows only guaranteed available flights and travel tours.
