The BILD am SONNTAG ist Germany’s major sunday paper. The BILD am SONNTAG is published by Axel Springer, Germany’s largest publisher of newspapers und third largest of magazines as well as one of the leading media enterprises in Europe.
On November 5th 2008 the BILD am SONNTAG honoured in Berlin for the 33rd time the most outstanding automobile novelties with the GOLDENE LENKRAD (‘Golden Steering wheel’). This automobile award was created in 1976 by publisher Axel Springer and became since then a trophy that is highly coveted on a national and international scale. Furthermore Germany’s major sunday paper awards every year the Ehrenlenkrad (‚Honorary Steering wheel’) and, in 2008 for the second time, the Grüne Lenkrad (‘Green Steering wheel’), granted for the best ecological novelty of the year. The solemn awards show took place in the Ullstein hall of the Axel Springer house in Berlin and was attended by round about 400 guests, representing economy, politics, media and athletics. TV-presenter Katrin Müller-Hohenstein led through the programm. The winners where chosen by an independent, voluntarily working panel, composed of technicians, representatives of motor sports and celebrities, amongst others Jörg Wontorra, Christina Surer, Waldemar Hartmann, Kai Pflaume, Thomas Anders, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Felix Magath and Estefania Küster.
